M&M's Cookie Bars

Hey ya'll!!

Today's blog post in going to be a recipe on these deliciously yummy Cookie Bars! They are super soft and chewy, easy to make, and you probably already have most of the ingredients in your pantry.

Mom's, this is something really fun to make with your kiddos. Now that it's Summer Break, you may be trying to figure out what to do to occupy their time. This is something that ya'll can enjoy doing together. My daughter and I made these together this past Sunday. I read off the directions and let her measure out the ingredients and stir them all together. She really enjoyed it! So you're getting the quality time you want, while your kids are having fun measuring, stirring, and tasting. It's a win-win all the way around!

These are the ingredients you'll need:
2 cups + 2 TBSP of all purpose flour
1/2 tspn of salt
1/2 tspn of baking soda
12 TBSP ( 1 and 1/2 sticks) of unsalted butter, softened
1 cup of brown sugar
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
2 tspn of vanilla extract
1 12oz bag of M&M's

Directions
Preheat your oven to 325 and grease a 9x13 pan.

In a medium sized bowl, mix together flour, salt, and baking soda.

In a large bowl, beat together the butter and sugars until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the egg, egg yolk, vanilla extract, and mix well. With a rubber spatula, slowly add the dry mixture into the wet mixture until it is all combined. Mix in 1 cup of M&M's and pour the batter in the pan. Smooth the top with the spatula and sprinkle the remaining M&M's on top and slightly press them in.

Bake for 25-30 until the bars have turned a light golden brown and are a tad firm. The mixture will rise and start to pull away from the edges of the pan. Let them cool for about 15-20 minutes then cut and serve.

I originally found this recipe while searching desserts on Pinterest. I came across these bars and thought they looked really tasty, and that my daughter would have a lot of fun recreating it. You can find the original recipe here!

I hope you guys enjoyed today's post!

xoxo,
Casey
